Instructor Joy

Meet Instructor Joy

Instructor Joy first started taekwondo in college to fulfill her PE requirements.  She continued taekwondo as a recreational activity - never aspiring to become a black belt.

Joy decided to embark on the annual Korea trip sponsored by Sky.  It was during this trip that taekwondo became more than a recreational activity.  She had decided to become a black belt there and embark on her journey.    Despite her work schedule, singing for her church choir and family activities, she never lost sight of her goal.  In April of 2006 she became a black belt.  It took Joy 10 years to achieve this coveted status of black belt.

Joy is the epitome of not allowing her black belt journey to become a race.  Enjoy your journey as Joy did - for it doesn't stop there.  She is currently a 2nd dan (degree) black belt testing for her 3rd dan (degree) next year. Joy’s teaching style is one of strict guidelines as well as making her classes fun.  You will often find Joy laughing and having fun with her students.

Joy loves to shop and travel.  She has been to Korea several times thus cementing her love for the sport.  She emplifies her name - Joy - and we are lucky to have her with us.
